The project involved creating the digital identity and website for Meta Marathon, a unique 42-hour non-stop cultural festival at NRW-Forum Düsseldorf exploring robotics and digital culture. The design reflected the experimental nature of an event that transformed a cultural institution into a temporary laboratory where participants could sleep overnight while engaging with workshops, performances, and discussions about human-robot interaction.

The website's central concept mirrored the festival's continuous format through a day-night cycle interface, where one complete scroll simulated the full 42-hour experience.

The website took the "meta" aspect of the festival's name literally, as it played with the flat 2D conventions of web design by allowing the user to peek behind the scenes of the festival's digital identity.

Prior to launch, I created an interactive teaser page ( Archived Version ) to build anticipation for the festival.

Main inspiration for the art direction was this self portrait by M.C. Escher...

.. which also played a role in the overall visual language of the project.
